To commemorate its very first public appearance on May 15th 1934 on Saint La Salle’s Day, The De La Salle Scout Pipe Band will retrace those first steps on Saturday 18th of May at 2pm with a parade from St. Stephen’s national school into Waterford City.
It’s that time of year again when the De La Salle Scout Pipe band played for the Culture Night in Waterford City.
On August 3rd the De La Salle Scout Pipe Band and its support team will leave Waterford for ten days to participate at the world famous Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, northern France.
The group celebrated St. Patrick’s day with an array of service awards, a special commendation from the Chief Scout Michael J. Shinnick to the band a multiple Chief Cub Scout awards.
We spoke to the Pipe Major, Pat Murphy about the band’s recent trip to The All Ireland Pipe Band Championships held in New Ross this year.
Last Tuesday, 19th November, a mayoral reception was held to celebrate the achievements of the Phoenix-winning team of the 7th De La Salle scouts, Elaine Stone on coming 3rd in the All-Ireland Junior piping competition, and Eimear Costello on coming 1st in the U14 category of the piping.

On Thursday evening June 27th 2013 twenty-eight members of the De La Salle Scout Pipe boarded the Waterford City Youth Committee bus and headed to Dublin for an onward flight to Berlin to take part in a very entertaining and enjoyable weekend in East Germany.
The Munster mini bands was hosted by De La Salle Scout Pipe Band and took place in St. Stephen’s National School last weekend. The band had quite an amount of trophies by the end of the weekend.
